Yoono tips

Did you know that you can blog any Note from a WebNote straight to YOUR blog ?

On the light blue header of each Note in a WebNote, on the right bottom there is a down arrow button. It’s a drop down menu, with an option “Blog it”. See it ?

Click on it. Then chose the platform for your blog (Wordpress for this blog, for instance). Give the technical data to connect to it we are here to help if you don’t know how to fill these fields), and then validate… Your blog credential will be remembered for the next time.

For instance, I wrote this article in a Web Note, and blogged it to this blogger blog...

Pretty cool huh ? Let me know if you have trouble using this feature !

Yoono makes Firefox more social

Yoono makes Firefox more social

October 6th, 2008 · 1 Comment · Web

Although Flock has some nice features for integrating your social networks and media, it also has some very significant drawbacks. It always lags behind the current Firefox version for security updates & other fixes, and bookmarks work very differently (which I personally dislike).

Yoono is a Firefox plugin that gives you the best of both worlds. It adds a sidebar which provides much of Flock’s more useful functionality. Combined with Scribefire for blogging, you can have most of Flock’s functionality with a more mature & well supported Firefox browser.

Blogging

This note is only a test, with no meaningful content. Just to demonstrate how easy it is to post a blog note from within the Webnote widget.
I'll drag and drop and resize an image from Flickr just below :

Okay done. I admit this was a pretty simple example. I guess some layouts are not that simple.
Let's see how it show up on the blogger platform for instance. I will not edit it at all, just post it once.

Praise for Yoono

Praise for the new release of Yoono

"I mean…wow. Absolutely incredible.

Totally and utterly mind-blown.

Yoono is a revolution. AMAZING."

http://www.technologyowl.com/i90516-c134-rss

"The coolest new feature is the access to most of your social networking sites in one place (Facebook, Friendfeed, Flickr, Last.fm, Piczo and Twitter). You can update your profiles from there and receive your friends updates in a well designed user interface, constantly visible in a left navigation bar integrated in your browser. This will save me a lot of time! Yoono toolbar allows also to post text and photos directly to a blog."

http://guidewiregroup.wordpress.com/2008/05/05/yoono-takes-aggregation-in-a-new-direction/
"The UI is what initially piqued my excitement for Yoono. It’s simply the best I’ve seen. Simple-to-navigate widgets sit in an inconspicuous sidebar that opens only when you need it, small pop-up windows give informative snapshots of contacts and updates, all clicks open to a new tab, and photos and videos temporarily overlay the current Web page in a slick little feature I hadn’t seen before Yoono. The company has obviously put a large amount of effort and focus into design and it’s welcomed. At this stage of the social Web, it’s the type of UI we should start expecting from every product."

"Yoono s’intègre au navigateur internet pour rassembler en un seul endroit l’ensemble de ses services sociaux (réseaux et chat), découvrir de nouveaux contenus et interagir directement avec ses amis."

http://www.techcrunch.com/2008/05/04/yoono-the-social-network-browser-plugin-youve-been-waiting-for/

"What really sets Yoono apart is its slick UI. As you browse through your list of friends, you can mouse-over any contact to get a popup summary of their latest profile and status updates. Hover over any of the thumbnail sized photos shown in the widget, and you’ll see a full-sized version overlayed across your browser, all without ever leaving the page you were browsing."

"Yoono is also a chat tool that lets you share items from the web immediately with your friends. Drag and drop items from the web into your Yoono sidebar tool, whether it be a selected piece of text, videos and images, and it will become immediately available to your friends, depending on what chat tool they’re currently using."

"The UI is really neat and clean, looks impressive. It is also impressive how much has been packed into a plugin. I am sure designing such an app is a challenge - whom to target, what features to bring in, what to leave out. Overall, I am quite impressed. I may end up actually using it!"

"in many ways Yoono now gives you some of Flock's best features without needing to hop over to a new browser."

Safari for Windows uses weird XML configuration files...

Is it a Joke or what ? Here is the begining of a Safari 3 for Windows configuration file. Am I the only one to think this is an absurd way of using XML ?

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd"> <plist version="1.0"> <dict> <key>IncludeDebugMenu</key> <true/> <key>AddressBarIncludesAddBookmark</key> <true/> <key>AddressBarIncludesAutoFill</key> <false/> <key>AddressBarIncludesBackForward</key> <true/> <key>AddressBarIncludesHome</key> <false/> <key>AddressBarIncludesReportBug</key> <false/> ... and so on...

Okay, it is valid... That worries me a lot about how Safari supports XML related functionnalities. Does its parser relies on the order of tags ?

Testing blog & buzz

This is a test of an upcoming feature that will allow bloggers to display a Buzz IT button at the bottom of any note they post from within our application.

They will still benefit from the rich editor, the multi-platform supported blog post feature, but will make it easy for their readers to spread the word...

Buzz it!

Yoono BuzzIt !
